Why did the crop tool change to inversed / “natural” (like apple’s natural scolling) in Photoshop CS6? Cropping used to work by moving the crop frame in the image but is now done by moving the image around the crop frame. How can I get the old behavior back? Well, that is simple. There is a preference in the toolbar after you select the crop tool:
Did you know that you can open Adobe Illustrator Files in Photoshop? Adobe Illustrator files (.ai files) are saved in a PDF compatible format / vector compatible but also with a limited font set available. You can specify the resolution when opening the file: This makes it possible to open your Adobe Illustrator files in Photoshop. They will be vectorized, but you can specify the resolution that you wish to use when opening them. Any vector items will be scaled up without losing quality. Rasterized items will be included but will nto scale-up without pixelation. Please note that if you want the image to appear “actual size” on the screen you will need to set the resolution to 72dpi unless you are using something like a retina display. The default resolution for opening an Adobe Illustrator file in Photoshop is 300dpi.
Photoshop CS5 had a transparent background, while Photoshop CS6 has a dark, non-transparent, opaque background on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion). It’s not hard to get this behavior back though. This is an odd behavior because the “Standard Screen Mode” had a transparent background in all Photoshop programs CS5 and earlier. Sometimes I like to toggle to the full screen mode with that has a dark grey background, but I also like to have Photoshop have a transparent (no-background) when no files are open, or sometimes I just like to work on top of the desktop and other applications so I can see what’s happening in my browser window, etc. I got so used to using the “F” key to switch between full-screen mode and the standard screen mode (Full Screen Mode, Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar, Standard Screen Mode) To fix this odd behavior, it’s simply a matter of going to the Window menu and unchecking the Application Frame button.
